Feedback Sessions Tutor
has studied piano, historical keyboards and conducting in Freiburg/Germany and Oslo. Her interest for experimental music has led to collaborations with composers Helmut Lachenmann, Natasha Barrett, Simon Steen-Andersen, Johannes Kreidler, Alvin Lucier, Phil Niblock, Jan St. Werner, Marina Rosenfeld, Joanna Bailie et al. Amaral performs mainly as soloist and with the Duo Hellqvist/Amaral (initiator of projects like Disobediences in Sound or the artistic exchange platform Impossible Situations), Amaral/Zöllner or Ensemble neoN.
In addition to her work as a performer, she is active as teacher, curator and artist-researcher. In 2012 she co-created Ultima Academy at the Ultima – Oslo Contemporary Music Festival together with Lars Petter Hagen and programmed it until 2015.
Currently, Amaral pursues a PhD in artistic research at the Orpheus Institute (Ghent/Belgium), gives lectures in curatorial practices in music at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and is an advisor of ‘Defragmentation – Curating contemporary music’, a project of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the International Music Institute Darmstadt (IMD) / Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, MaerzMusik – Festival for Time Issues and in cooperation with Ultima Festival Oslo.
