Born 1966 in Unna/Germany, after his civil service studied musicology and German literature at Universität des Saarlandes. In 1989, he founded, together with Sigrid Konrad, the publishing house PFAU (www.pfau-verlag.de) which has a special focus on books on contemporary music. Teaching appointments and workshops regularly lead him to various academic institutions. He is an author and editor of numerous publications on contemporary music. From 2000 to 2011, Stefan Fricke was on the board of the German delegation of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). In 2007, he directed the editorial department of the Studio Akustische Kunst for West German Radio (WDR) in Cologne. Since 2008, he is editor in chief for New Music and Sound Art at the Hessian Broadcasting (hr2-kultur) in Frankfurt. Stefan Fricke is a honorary professsor at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz which is part of the Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz.
