Kevin Parks

Lecturer

Originally from New York, USA, Kevin Parks is a graduate of Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music (CUNY), he later received his M.A. from Dartmouth College. After working briefly at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, he taught computer music at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and received his PhD at the University of Virginia (Composition & Computer Music). Kevin Parks has studied composition with Charles Dodge, Curtis Bahn, Noah Creshevsky, Larry Polansky, Jon Appleton, Christian Wolff, Judith Shatin, Ted Coffey and Matthew Burtner. His interests include: computer music, musique concrète, tuning and timbre, experimental music, American modernism, popular music, Korean traditional music and experimental improvisation. Kevin Parks is an active composer and improviser and until recently was teaching at Catholic University of Daegu, School of Music in South Korea. Since 2022, Kevin Parks has been the Curator of the Music & Recorded Sound Division at the New York Library for the Performing Arts.
