HACK YOUR VOICE – how to make yourself heard in a noisy world

Organisator: Pascal Zurek

Di. 29. Juli 2025, 13:00 – 14:30

OS 4

Wouldn’t it be great to fill the Lichtenbergschule Mensa with your voice – without a microphone?

Your voice is not your fate.
It is a malleable instrument, and you can play it with virtuosity – helping you to express yourself, and enabling others to better understand your thoughts.
Filling a room with it can be an empowering experience.
This workshop isn’t about anything esoteric — it introduces practical physics you can use to your advantage. In short: hack your voice!
If you often feel that your voice doesn’t carry or that you have little agency over it, this workshop could be for you.

Why me?
Being a voice trainer at universities, a contemporary/experimental opera singer, and a physicist, I can help you find individual strategies to make yourself heard as an individual.

What will we do?
We will learn some hacks & best practices helping you make better use of your speaking voice. This is applicable to everyday situations as well as artistic/expressive settings (such as spoken parts in instrumental music etc.) and can empower you to speak up when society doesn’t give you the chance.

PLEASE try showing up on time, as I will first share a quick overview of the basic physics of voice production and voice manipulation (so you understand what you’re hacking), and then we will build up some practical exercises for your voice which you can then carry home with you.
The workshop itself is planned for 60 minutes.
Afterwards I reserved 30 minutes in case you have individual questions on pieces and individual voice issues. Bring scores if you need help!

Feel free to reach out to mail@pascalzurek.de or via @pascal.zurek.voice if there are any questions!

Looking forward to hearing your voices!

PS: If you are interested on extended vocal techniques, I am having a workshop on that topic on Thursday!
