Interactive Sound Installation by IMD Mubonists

The mubone was originally conceived as an extension or the trombone, using the instrument’s inherent directionality as a pointer-cursor in Max/MSP for canvas-based composition. Since it’s introduction to the Darmstadt IMD community this year, it has since evolved into a means to distribute authorship by dismantling the component parts: painter, palette, sonic input, and gesture, and having a way to compose as a group using these parts, devised collectively and democratically.

This interactive sound installation is the result of the sonic and gestural contributions of those who used the mubone, their sounds and movements recorded into a virtual canvas for all the explore.

There may be an option to contribute to the soundscape during this open space if you wanted to bring your sonic practices!
