There is a certain masochism intrinsic to New Music. Although it could be a safe space for the genuinely innovative, it seems incapable of abandoning the urge to snuggle up to the conventions of its alleged »big sister«: the classical music (business) with all its codification, outdatedness and classism. An entrenched situation that we urgently need to escape if New Music is to survive.
