Sound and Movement Interaction
Shared Perspectives – Echos and Friction of Translation

The workshop provides composers, instrumentalists, performers, dancers and choreographers with the opportunity to work together in the creation and performance of new experimental works.

The participants may position themselves in a multiple function as composer/performer/dancer/choreographer or in interdisciplinary connections. They are invited to collectively create compositions, sketches, choreographies and improvisations for the various line-ups that can be formed within the group. We hereby emphasize the conception of these workshops as „experimental systems“, embedded in a more discursive form, placing the encounter as the primary moment for unfolding potential.

In this sense this workshop week is to be understood as a performative, situation-bound event between different actors, which is documented in its processuality and not primarily result-oriented. We rather focus on the creating collective as a competence in sharing and shifting perspectives between corporeal musical articulations and movements in sound.

We question the topicality of sound material / “enacted sounds” / movement in general, aim to research on our traditional instruments and their extensions, experiment with alternative resonating bodies / objects and eventually will develop new contact surfaces to explore new material based on the experimental collaboration. This approach encourages transformation, reinterpretation and/or translation.

We hereby understand translation as a continuous process situated between sensory qualities, causing friction, echoes and potentially undiscovered material with distorted meaning.
We explore the communicative and social aspects of ensemble playing, give space to a collective competence /collective resonance and aim to create a respectful space for feedback and critics.
