4tet laboratoire
Ensemble
4tet Laboratoire is an ensemble of two synthesizers and two percussionists based in Bern: Romane Bouffioux (percussion), Corentin Barro (drums), Lis Marti (keys), Audrey Mützenberg (keys). They perform eclectic works in collaboration with composers, as it is important to them to play contemporary music. Their current artistic direction is focused on interdiscplinarity, theatricality and experimentation with pop aesthetics. In 2023, they commissioned Matthieu Shlomowitz to write Exploration in Polytonality and other musical wonders V.4, released in 2024 on the New York label Carrier Records.
Which skill, that you’ve learned by playing in an ensemble, helps you in everyday life?
Good and transparent communication, basic social skills, define our needs and capacity, making compromises. (lis practice a lot her french skills!)
If anything was possible, WHERE would you like to perform someday?
We mostly find more interesting the experience that the location: it means: nice people, good music, good human experience but also good stage!
Other interest would be more rocky festival (Coco), more atypical location (Audrey) or for Romane: „don’t know why but JAPAN attracts me! “
Beer or Wine?
We also like wine but as „good musician who respect themself“ as we would say in french: Beer! (but good quality says Corentin)
