Viola and clarinet have similar registers and their timbres go well together, but there is only little repertoire for the two instruments playing together. The Darmstadt clarinet and viola studios are encouraging composer participants of the Summer Course to write duos or trios for viola plus one or two clarinets.
The clarinet family is quite big (Eb, Bb, A clarinet, Basset horn, Bass and Double bass clarinet) and offers many registers and different sound worlds. One idea would be to create an exciting new „Trio basso“ formation.
The pieces will be played by participants and tutors of the Summer Course.
We are looking forward to enter your new sound worlds!

Call for Scores & Sketches
Applicants are requested to merge all links and documents into ONE SINGLE PDF file (LASTNAME_Firstname_ViolaClarinet2023.pdf) and send it by ⏰ 30 April 2023 to:
