Eva Reiter
Tutor "Sound and Movement Interaction", Composition
Born in 1976 in Vienna. Eva Reiter studied recorder and viola da gamba at the University of Music in Vienna and continued both studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. In 2006, she graduated cum laude from both master’s programs with a focus on contemporary composition.
Eva Reiter works as a musician, composer, lecturer, artistic consultant and freelance curator. She teaches at courses for early music and composition (ARCO – Art Research and Creation, Marseille; Voix Nouvelles Academy, Royaumont, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik, Vienna Contemporary Composers Festival and others). Since 2020 she has been teaching composition at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna, where she also leads the course “Experimental Improvisation Practice”. In 2021, she was awarded a comprehensive grant from the City of Vienna for the artistic research project “Transforming Instrumental Gestures” (until 2024). Since 2024 she has also been teaching ensemble work for composers at the Mozarteum Salzburg and will be “associated composer at the Composition Cursus of IRCAM” from fall 2025.
Eva Reiter performs as a soloist and with various orchestras and ensembles for early and contemporary music (including Ictus, Klangforum Wien). Since 2015, she has been a permanent member of the Belgian ensemble Ictus, whose artistic planning she co-directs. Her work as a composer has won several awards. She has performed her compositions at international festivals such as Transit, Ars Musica, ISCM World New Music Festival, generator, Wien Modern, Klangspuren Schwaz, Aspekte Salzburg, Sommer in Stuttgart, MaerzMusik, musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst, Darmstadt Summer Course, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Festival Archipel, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Musica Strasbourg, Kunstenfestivaldasarts Brussels, Wiener Festwochen and others. In the 2019/20 season, Eva Reiter was resident artist at the Elbphiharmonie Hamburg and at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
In 2025, Eva Reiter will be a tutor at the Darmstadt Summer Course for the first time.
