Noise is a Queer Space, state Luxa M. Schüttler and Håkon Stene. Together they create a one-hour installative composition, a compositional parcours, a social environment. In an expansive structure of snare drums the Norwegian percussionist Håkon Stene produces rhythmically dense, noisy and immersive sound constellations with additional live electronics. Pre-programmed live-electronic modules structure the flow of the music, in which physical immediacy and compositional intention meet on an equal footing.
At certain points, the composition is permeable to material from guest authors who have been invited by the two “editors” Stene and Luxa M. Schüttler to contribute to the piece, for example in the form of individual sounds, samples, tracks, rhythmic patterns or structural concepts.
