Quatuor Bozzini

In Montreal, the Quatuor Bozzini has long been a star among the local ensembles: with its own concert series and CD label, with newcomer formats such as ‟Composer‘s Kitchen“, ‟Performer’s Kitchen” or the Bozzini Lab, with guest performances at all important national festivals and an international concert activity that regularly takes them to almost every continent in the world. This summer, to mark the ensemble‘s 25th anniversary on stage, the Quatuor Bozzini is making its first guest appearance at the Darmstadt Summer Course and will be present for several days as quartet-in-residence. The concert at the Lichtenbergschule will focus on two quartets by Canadian Cassandra Miller, currently living in London and writing a new piece for the Summer Course. Many years ago, the Bozzinis discovered Cassandra Miller in their ‟Composer’s Kitchen", from which a close artistic friendship developed. This is the first time that Cassandra Miller's works have been represented at the Summer Course and that she has attended as a composition tutor.

In the world premiere of the new work by Irish composer Ann Cleare, the four string players will be joined by the two saxophonists Patrick Stadler and Marcus Weiss, two outstanding instrumentalists and both with special ties to the Darmstadt Summer Course – Marcus Weiss was our saxophone teacher for many years before handing over to Patrick Stadler in 2023.
