Arne Gieshoff

Arne Gieshoff is a composer of acoustic and electronic music, music theatre and community works, increasingly interested in site-specific collaborative practices. His compositions have been performed by ensembles such as the BBC SSO, LPO, Staatstheater Darmstadt, DSO Berlin and Collegium Novum Zürich. He was a Tanglewood Fellow (2014), Sound and Music’s Composer-in-Residence with BCMG (2014-15), received the RPS Composition Prize (2013) and held the Henze-Scholarship (2015-17). In 2021 he was awarded the Darmstädter Musikpreis. He studied, after initial lessons with Cord Meijering, at the Royal College of Music in London with Jonathan Cole, Simon Holt und Kenneth Hesketh and was Artistic Director of Explore Ensemble (2012-16). He is a lecturer in composition at the AfT Darmstadt.
