Luxa M. Schüttler
Composition Tutor
Born in 1974 in Kassel. Luxa M. Schüttler [they/them] works as a composer:, performer: and media artist: with an aesthetic focus on the recontextualization of social, media, performative, biographical or physical conditions of music. To this end, they/them deliberately focuses on disparate sonorities, structural imbalances and sonic diversity, often interspersed with pop-cultural references. Luxa’s works are often created together with selected allies, for example the Nadar Ensemble, ensemble mosaik or Trio Catch. Luxa’s music can also be heard with numerous renowned ensembles and at international festivals such as the Warsaw Autumn, Musica Strasbourg, the Donaueschinger Musiktage and Wien Modern. They/them has also published works, given radio broadcasts, lectures, courses, performances, exhibitions and concerts worldwide. Luxa M. Schüttler studied composition and music theory at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Nicolaus A. Huber and Ludger Brümmer. Scholarships at the ZKM Karlsruhe and Villa Serpentara, among others. Luxa has been a professor of composition at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts since 2014. In 2023/24, Luxa Mart:in Schüttler has been fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.
In 2025, Luxa M. Schüttler will be a tutor at the Darmstadt Summer Course for the third time.
