Violas/Multiples
Key contents:
- Work on main repertoire written for the viola in the 20th and 21st Century
- Individual lessons
- Group teaching on interpretation
- Group teaching on how to approach new pieces, workshop and exchange on questions like: Is there only one way? How does the approach of each interpreter influence the interpretation?
- Group teaching on specific viola techniques of new music
- Wolfgang Rihm: Canzona nuova (1982–2006) for five violas. Geneviève Strosser will work on this piece playing herself with the students
- Focus on pieces for three violas like Emmanuel Nuñes‘ viola trio La Main Noire and other trios (suggestions are welcome)
Together with Georges Aperghis and composer participants chosen from a Call for Scores, the viola studio will work on sketches and new pieces for three violas.
