Stephen Menotti
Tutor Brass Studio – Trombone
Stephen Menotti is a trombonist dedicated to the development of a modern repertoire as a soloist, chamber musician, improviser and composer. His passion for contemporary music has led him to perform with numerous ensembles and to collaborate regularly with countless composers from around the world.
His soloistic engagements have led him to work with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra at the Donaueschingen Musiktage, with the Basel Sinfonietta, and to appear at numerous festivals including at the Lucerne Festival, Warsaw Autumn, Festival d’Automne, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival among others. He has performed as a soloist in staged productions of operas by Karhleinz Stockhausen with the Birmingham Opera Company, Musica Viva Munich and Theater Basel. Stephen has studied at the Oberlin Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik Basel and at the Zurich Hochschule der Künste.
Stephen lives in Basel and is a member of the new music ensemble Collegium Novum Zurich and is the principal trombonist of the Basel Sinfonietta. Since February 2024 he has been invited for a trial period to join Ensemble Musikfabrik in Cologne.
