New possibilities for String Quartet, reflecting on Stockhausen today.

In this meeting I will analyze my string quartet Kontaktlos. Written in 2021 for the legendary Arditti Quartet, to which I will forever be very grateful, Kontaktlos is both a reflection on the covid pandemic (when the concept of "contactless" was at the forefront of our collective experience), and a reflection on Kontakte by Stockhausen. Kontaktlos presents several new possibilities for string instruments. In particular it seems to be the first String Quartet in which the E-bow works effectively. The piece raises the need to rethink Stockhausen today, to develop the music of tomorrow... Kontaktlos was performed in Darmstadt on 12.08.2023 by the great Fabrik Quartet and will be presented in Darmstadt a second time by the amazing Mivos Quartet on 15.08.2023 at 15:30 in the Akademie für Tonkunst (Wilhelm-Petersen-Saal), together with five wonderful string quartets selected from the Call of Score of Mivos.
