Internal Call for Performers

The Performing Body is a workshop for performers and composer-performers interested in developing tools for body-based performance and in exploring the interpretation of body-based/performative music.

No previous experience is necessary to apply.

The workshop’s aim is to provide tools for performers and a space for playful experimentation. We will address topics such as body awareness, space awareness, basic vocal techniques, warm-up techniques, score interpretation and ensemble interaction.

In addition to exercises, games and warm-ups, recent and historical compositions will provide a context for exploring interpretation and ensemble interaction. This includes works by composers such as François Sarhan, Jessie Marino, Mauricio Kagel, Dieter Schnebel, Mieko Shiomi, Neo Hülcker, Jennifer Walshe, Jeppe Ernst, and others.

There are no initial plans for a public presentation, however there is the possibility for an informal presentation if the group desires.
