“I’ve got older now and I use glasses more and more often. With glasses, my vision is about the same as it used to be. Without glasses I can see less, especially the more distant things are blurred. So I get the impression that the radius of my perception is narrowing, retreating to the point from which I am looking. I get the impression that without glasses I lose something of the world that I can still see with glasses. The impression (the illusion) is interesting, because it raises the question of what really makes the difference between the world I can reach (even better) and the world I can no longer reach (or reach less well).”
