Matthew Shlomowitz

Composer

Matthew Shlomowitz is a London based composer. Recent works include The Big Idea, a one-hour monodrama for mezzo soprano Lotte Betts Dean and Rubiks Collective (Melbourne), made in collaboration with writer Vid Simoniti, and Four Songs, written for soprano Nina Guo and pianist Joseph Houston with lyrics by Harry Blake. His article “Now is Not the Time for Neoclassicism: the case for Neoclassism” was published in Tempo journal in July 2025. Matthew teaches at University of Southampton, co-directs Plus Minus Ensemble, and co-produces the Soundmaking podcast.
