Prague Music Performance Institute & Festival was founded by Czech pianist Jan Bartoš and the late Zenon Fishbein (Manhattan School of Music in New York) in 2010. The project organically combines a festival with an educational institution. PMP Institute & Festival presents concerts across musical genres, master classes, lectures, and residencies. PMP Institute & Festival also endeavors to include other fields of art, such as the fine arts, film, or literary art.

The list of renowned artists PMP Institute & Festival has introduced throughout its history includes Alfred Brendel, Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, John Zorn, Kronos Quartet, Thurston Moore, Gareth Davies, Garth Knox, Roland Dahinden, Mary Halvosron, Ikue Mori, Quatuor Diotima, Miroslav Srnka, Mahan Esfahani, Brad Mehldau, Uri Caine, Esperanza Spalding, Dave Douglas, Joey Baron, Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner, Marc Ribot, Julian Lage, Jon Irabagon, Kresten Osgood, David Thomas, Barry Guy and Maya Homburger and many others.
