Call for Scores
During the Darmstadt Summer Course 2023 Lucas Fels, Mariel Roberts (cello tutors) and Hans Thomalla (composition tutor) will offer a workshop for cellists and composers. Composers selected for this project will work together with the Summer Course cellists on a short cello solo piece.
These selected pieces will be workshopped in the Cello Studio with Mariel Roberts and Lucas Fels, but also presented by the composer/cellist teams at group sessions with all workshop participants, where materials, notation, as well as general compositional questions will be discussed. The pieces will be shared with the public at a final presentation.
Participants of the Composition Studio are asked to submit a PDF file of ONE existing composition for cello solo for this workshop by ⏰ July 1 2023. (Works can be for cello solo only. For logistical reasons no live electronics, fixed media, or cello + other instruments possible.) If pieces are longer than 10 minutes, the tutors reserve the right to only work on parts of the piece.
