Clarinet Tutor
Shizuyo Oka studied clarinet with Michel Arrignon and bass clarinet with Jean-Noel Crocq at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, graduating with three 1er Prix for clarinet, bass clarinet and chamber music. In 2000-2001 she performed with Yo-Yo Ma in the Silk-Road Ensemble, which he founded. Since 1998 she has been a member of the ensemble recherche. Her solo activities have included solo concerts with the Josef Suk Orchestra Prague, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre philharmonique du Luxembourg and the Spanish Radiotelevision Orchestra. She has also had many solo pieces dedicated to her by Georgy Kúrtag, Toshio Hosokawa, and Mark Andre, among others. In addition to her extensive concert activity with the ensemble recherche, she has taught master classes at universities all over the world (Austria, France ,Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, China, South America, USA …). She also teaches as a lecturer every year at the Ensemble Academy Freiburg since 2003.
